Are you stuck in the “Epic Glory” cycle? You play your heart out, secure MVP, but still lose because your team composition just didn’t work. I’ve been there. Last season, I spent three weeks bouncing between Mythic Honor and Glory, forcing my favorite old-school heroes. It wasn’t until I dropped my ego and embraced the Season 39 Meta that I finally broke through to Mythical Immortal.
In Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, skill matters—but drafting the right hero is 50% of the victory. Season 39 has introduced significant patch shifts, bringing Assassins back into the spotlight while keeping utility supports relevant.
This guide isn’t just a list; it’s a strategic roadmap. We’ve analyzed the Pick/Ban rates from the M7 World Championship qualifiers and combined them with high-elo ranked data to bring you the definitive Mobile Legends Season 39 Tier List.
The Current Meta Snapshot (Season 39)
Before we dive into the heroes, you need to understand the “flavor” of this season.
-
The Assassin Renaissance: With the recent buffs to items like Sky Piercer, burst assassins are punishing squishy lineups harder than ever.
-
Mobility is King: Static heroes (heroes without dash skills) are struggling. If you can’t rotate fast to the Turtle or Lord, you are a liability.
-
Sustain Roamers: Healers like Mathilda and Estes are seeing high ban rates because keeping your “Hyper Carry” alive is currently more valuable than a tank that just absorbs damage.
Tier Rankings Explained
-
S+ Tier (God Tier): These heroes are broken. Either pick them first or ban them immediately.
-
S Tier (Strong): excellent picks that fit almost any team composition.
-
A Tier (Viable): Good heroes, but they require skill or specific teammates to shine.
-
B Tier (Situational): Only pick these if you are a “One Trick Pony” (OTP) or if it’s a specific counter-pick.
Jungle Tier List: The Kings of the Map
The Jungler controls the tempo. In Season 39, you generally have two choices: finish the game in 12 minutes with an Assassin, or out-sustain the enemy with a Tank.
S+ Tier Junglers
-
Joy: Despite multiple nerfs, her immunity to Crowd Control (CC) on the beat makes her nearly unstoppable in the right hands. She dives the backline, deletes the Mage, and dances out.
-
Nolan: His ability to clear camps in seconds and rotate allows him to snowball faster than any other hero. His cooldowns are virtually non-existent in the late game.
-
Fanny: High risk, high reward. In the current patch, her energy consumption is manageable with the right emblem set.
A Tier (Tank Junglers)
-
Fredrinn & Barats: If your team lacks a frontline, do not pick an assassin. Pick these guys. They secure the Retribution battle for Lord/Turtle because they can soak damage while smiting.
Pro Tip: If you are playing Solo Queue, I recommend Assassin Junglers (S+ Tier). You cannot rely on your random teammates to follow up on your tank sets. Take matters into your own hands.
Mid Lane Tier List: Map Control & Burst
The Mid Laner is the secondary roamer. Your job is to clear your wave instantly and help the Gold Lane or the Jungle.
-
S+ Tier: Novaria & Valentina
-
Novaria provides vision, which is the most underrated asset in high-ranking games. Her “Astral Recall” snipes can take 50% of a Marksman’s HP before the team fight even starts.
-
Valentina remains the queen of flexibility. Being able to steal game-changing Ultimates (like Tigreal’s or Faramis’s) makes her invaluable.
-
-
S Tier: Gord & Lylia
-
Gord has seen a resurgence due to his ability to melt tanky compositions with True Damage while moving.
-
Lylia is the anti-dive mage. If Assassins jump on her, she just ults back to full HP and blows them up.
-
Gold Lane Tier List: The Late Game Insurance
This season, Marksmen (MM) fall into two camps: Attack Speed (Trinity Build) vs. Burst.
S+ Tier (The Meta dominators)
-
Wanwan: Even after adjustments, her “Crossbow of Tang” offers invincibility. In a coordinated dive meta, being untargetable is the best defense.
-
Claude: The master of entering and exiting fights. His “Blazing Duet” combined with Golden Staff shreds through the high-HP tank meta.
-
Karrie: The ultimate tank buster. If the enemy picks 2 or more tanks, Karrie is an automatic win condition thanks to her passive True Damage.
The “Trap” Picks (Avoid in Solo Queue)
-
Hanabi / Miya / Layla: Unless you have a dedicated tank babysitting you, these heroes are too immobile. You will be food for the enemy, Joy or Nolan.
EXP Lane & Roam: The Unsung Heroes
EXP Lane (The Sustainers)
-
S+ Tier: Arlott & Terizla
-
Arlott is a nightmare to balance. He is tanky, has infinite dashes, and constant CC.
-
Terizla effectively owns the early game. His damage reduction allows him to 1v2, freeing up your Jungler to gank elsewhere.
-
Roam (The Playmakers)
-
S+ Tier: Mathilda: She gives her whole team a free “Flash” (dash) with her skill 2. She turns immobile heroes into mobile ones.
-
S Tier: Tigreal & Minotaur: The kings of “CC Chain.” One good flicker-ult from Tigreal ends the game.
My Personal Experience: I struggled to climb out of Mythic III playing Khufra because I kept missing my jumps. I switched to Minotaur this season. The heal + knock-up is much easier to execute and provides sustain for the team. My win rate went from 48% to 62%.
Strategy: How to Draft & Rank Up Fast
Having the tier list is one thing; using it is another. Here is a checklist for your Draft Phase:
1. The Ban Phase
Don’t ban heroes just because you hate them. Ban the Meta. In Season 39, your bans should be: Mathilda, Joy, Nolan, and Wanwan. If you are First Pick, leave one open and take it instantly.
